Presentation of Rare Earths

Rare Earths are a family of 16 natural elements just like iron, oxygen or carbon. Their particular electronic structure confers similar chemical properties, making them difficult to separate, as well as physical properties which are the origin of their numerous applications in catalysis, luminescence, optics, magnetism, electronics...

In spite of their name, Rare Earths are hardly rare. For example, the natural abundance of Lanthanids in earth's crust is the same than Copper.

The periodic table of the elements includes the 14 lanthanids : Lanthane, Cerium, Praseodymium, Neodymium, Samarium, Europium, Gadolinium, Terbium,
Dysprosium, Holmium, Erbium, Thulium, Ytterbium, Lutecium, plus Yttrium and
Scandium.

Rhodia Electronics & Catalysis separates and markets all the rare earths as oxides, salts, metals and alloys for the manufacturing of performance products.

We were the first to use liquid-liquid extraction on an industrial scale. Our leadership has been achieved by an international presence and a world-wide supply chain.

Today, Rodia EC gives you its expertise, as your industrial partner:

• Capacity
To scale-up new products from the laboratory to full-scale industrial production

• Flexibility
To customise products by fine-tuning their physico-chemical characteristics to exactly meet customer requirements

• Consistency
Quality and quantity ordered

• Costs
Our expertise in production and process provides cost efficiency.
