Color Range

Inorganic NEOLOR™ pigments having a base of rare earth sulfides are making great strides forward in health and environment and offers an innovative alternative to inorganic pigments with heavy metals and a performing technical solution to organic pigments bases.

• Rare Earths Sulfide based Pigments

Rare Earths sulfides do not exist naturally. They must be processed synthetically to be produced in industrial quantities. Rhodia Electronics & Catalysis' development of expertise in sulfide chemistry at the Aubervilliers Research Center has made it possible to perfect a process that is both unique and innovative. This research resulted in constructing and starting up industrial units since 1997.

• Regulatory Compliance

NEOLOR™ is a range of inorganic pigments. Developed from a base of rare earth sulfides, these pigments comply with European regulations pertaining to contact with food (EC 90/128) and to toy standards (E.N. 71). They are a high performing alternative to pigments with cadmium and lead bases.

• High Performance

NEOLOR™ pigments possess qualities suitable for high performance pigments:

  • thermal stability (stable to 350°C)
  • stability in bad weather and under exposure to UV rays
  • opacity
  • resistant to migration
  • dimensional stability when incorporated into crystalline polymers
  • ease of dispersion

• Plastic and Paint Colorations

As a result of their technical characteristics, NEOLOR™ pigments can be used for coloring plastics and paints (powder, coil, automobile) . Their thermal stability, weather ability and UV absorption properties make them especially build for engineering resins (ABS, PA, PC, POM, …) and outdoor applications.

• U.V. Absorption

UV Absorption: due to Cerium properties, the Neolor pigments are acting as UV Absorber in formulations improving UV resistance and protecting the resin.

• Color Range

The current color range extends from light orange to burgundy, to offer a greater variety of colors that can be used by various markets.

There are four tints already available:

  • light orange (P.O. 78)
  • orange (P.O. 75)
  • red (P.R. 265)
  • burgundy (P.R. 275)
